Our Story

Doggy Day Camp launched in 2013, find out how it all started and our plans for the future.

In 2013, we met at Rodbaston College, both studying on a Level 3 Animal Management course (as required by law in order to set up a pet-related business). We became fast friends and realised we both had the same ideas and same dreams, and so in 2015, we decided to make it a reality. We opened Doggy Day Camp as a small business and are very excited to see where it takes us in the future. We love all dogs as if they were our own, and feel it is the best job in the world. We haven’t looked back since.

Find out more about the sorts of dogs we are able to accept and why

Doggy Day Camp accepts all breeds, of any shape and any size, providing a free trial has been arranged and implemented. As long as all forms have been completed, and the dog is up to date with vaccinations, he or she is welcome here at Doggy Day Camp!

Our ratio is 5 dogs per member of staff at maximum. This is to make sure all dogs are supervised and safe at all times, and they get all the cuddles and attention they deserve.

We provide excellent facilities for your dog. We have new toys which are replaced regularly – ranging from ropes to a ball pit and tunnel. We ensure our toys are appropriate for both big and small dogs and are safe for them to play with. We encourage all our dogs to get involved and socialise, whilst also providing one on one cuddle time with every dog!

Overnight Boarding

Find out more about our overnight and boarding services

Doggy Day Camp offers both daycare and overnight boarding. Any dogs staying overnight will spend time at daycare during opening hours, included in their price. For boarding, we do a maximum limit of 3-4 dogs at any time, due to sleeping arrangements. We love to make space on our beds for any dogs who aren’t crate trained, but are also happy to make room for beds provided to those dogs who sleep in a crate.

The Day Camp Staff

Becky Howell

Becky has always been interested in animals of all shapes and sizes. She decided from a young age that she wanted to work with them and continually pursued experience in this line of work. Becky took up work experience on a local farm and then proceeded to work in a dog groomers for 2 years. To ensure she could work with animals she started Rodbaston college to complete her Level 3 animal management diploma and finished in early 2015 with a triple distinction *. Working with dogs has always been Beckys dream and so managing a daycare with her own dogs at her side is a dream come true.

Selina Smith

Selina has been dedicated to working with dogs from a young age. She went straight on from school to study Animal Management at Rodbaston College. Shortly afterwards she started Doggy Day Camp. She has had a lot of experience with looking after her own dogs. Selina always struggles leaving her dog when on vacation so she likes other owners to feel comfortable with knowing their dogs are going to enjoy a holiday of their own!
